Bytes of Tech is a newsletter that I created because the newsletters I was subscribed to didn't do it for me.There are plenty of good newsletters out there but none covered all topics I wanted to read about. I would have to sign up for 3 emails to get all topics.I decided to create my own newsletter. I created Bytes of Tech on February 1st 2023 and started delievering 1 email daily.The email is broken into 4 sections.
1) Big Tech/ Startups
2) Crypto
3) AI

EU cracks down on iMessageEU passed the Digital Markets Act that went into effect on March 2, 2023. The new rule is making Apple iMessage available for all users even if they don’t have an iPhone. iMessage is specific to Apple and is protected by just Apple phones, Apple must comply to allow users to iMessage without owning an Apple phone. Furthermore, the law also states that users should be able to download Apps outside of the App store a move that Apple is sure to hate.Starlink is ruining scienceElon Musk’s Starlinks are taking over space and ruining NASA images of space. Studies say by 2030 one out of every three images will be ruined because of the number of satellites in space. China has stated that they want to battle it out in space as well to block Starlinks Satellites making more be deployed into space. Space orbits are not infinite which is a concern for science as these satellites block important images of space.

Uniswap get denied to launch crypto walletThe popular decentralized exchange has been wanting to launch a crypto wallet for a long time now apple is in the way of doing so. Apple had some concerns that Uniswap Labs have answered but there is still no reason as to why the exchange can’t push their mobile wallet out to Apple users. This continues to grow debate of how decentralized these applications can be when they have companies like Apple in the way.Binance steals AI powered NFTS?Chatcasso the user who won the hackathon is coming forward as they say Binance stole their idea of AI-powered NFTS. The Twitter user ggoma continues to provide examples of how similar the new AI-powered NFT from Binance and the one created by Chatcasso were. Chatcasso won a mere prize of $5,000 for the idea. Binance responded by saying that they do not have similar ideas and that Binance US and BNB chain don’t use the same developers. Implying that the teams work separately and Binance had these ideas way before the hackathon happened.Tornado Cash ForksAmeen Soleimani an early contributor to Tornado Cash has created a new fork of Tornado Cash. The fork will of course have authorities after him but he thinks he can make it better without anyone coming after him. Last year the creator of Tornado Cash was arrested. Ameen thinks his new version will not be under the same watch. Time will tell.

In the latest scams it seems they are using AI to trick loved ones into thinking they are talking with family. The advancement with AI has now made it easy for scammers to replicate the voice of a loved one by just having a few sentences of them. The tools are growing and the worst part? They are cheap making it easy for scammers to do this more.AI is finding Cancer that Doctors missedRadiologists are going on the out according to some of the top AI researchers. AI is now learning how to detach cancers at an alarming rate with over 2 million + Breast cancer patients last year alone the technology is able to remember everything it sees finding items a Radiologist may miss because of Human Error.

Google Keeps get’s added to homescreenGoogle Keep now has a pinned note feature. You can now pin a note or list to your home screen for easy access. The pin note feature has no release date yet but Google has continued to grow out the Google Keep app.Meta Reels now 90 seconds
Meta has now rolled out 90-second videos on it’s Facebook app. This is an expected move as they company allowed 90-second videos on Instagram a few months back. This is just another move to keep users on it’s platform as Tiktok continues to grow with users allowed to make 10-minute videos. The company also released some creator tools to help users like trending templates.Binance troubles continueBinance is under hot water again after the US branch seems to be running with an unregistered security exchange. Voyager is looking to be sold to Binance US but according to people close to the case. The issue is that the sale of Voyager tokens “VGX” is considered a security and Binance US is unregistered. This is not looking good for Binance US which is looking to expand its US branch.Coinbase switches banks
Coinbase has switched away from Silvergate after them delaying reporting earnings for the last quarter. It seems no one wants to do business with them ever since the FTX fallout. Coinbase worked with Silvergate but it wasn’t its biggest bank partner, they have switched now to Signature along with other crypto firms like Paxos and Galaxy.Twitter Blue expands
Twitter Blue has expanded to over 20 more countries including Sweeden, Denmark and Finland along with 17 others.
